Apprenticeships
Cheesemaking Apprenticeships Available
Cherry Grove Farm is now accepting applications for 2012 apprenticeships in our farmstead creamery (send all resumes to Kelly Harding at: kellyrharding@verizon.net).
We are a small grass based dairy in central New Jersey making cheese from cow and goats milk. The art of cheesemaking is labor intensive, challenging and fascinating. Cherry Grove apprentices will work alongside our head cheesemakers creating raw and pasteurized, cow and goat cheeses. The hours will be long, but rewarding learning about the chemistry of milk, the process of cheesemaking, sanitation, affinage, packaging, equipment, marketing and much more.
Above all, Apprentices must have a good work ethic. They must work well with others, be organized, be able to multitask, and enjoy working indoors in a humid environment. This position receives a stipend and housing is provided. Cheesemaking apprenticeships runs from March – December.
