We hope you all enjoyed the holiday festivities and had a lot of memorable times filled with great cheese!
Life on the farm has been interesting in this warm, wet beginning of winter. The grass is still green, the pink-fleshed apple outside our farm store is budding, and the garlic in the garden has broken ground and is soaring upwards. It is a strange start to winter, but it certainly makes us appreciate what our farmers are doing here at Cherry Grove Farm, and makes us grateful to be a part of sustainably turning grass into cheese. We are really excited about this upcoming year and look forward to producing more wonderful cheese for you to enjoy!
Here is a look at our current availability…
Herdsman: September wheels. Dense and fudgy, yet rivers of cream and butter at the same time. Raw Milk.
Harvest Tomme: This is our fancy version of Herdsman, available in petite .65-1 lb baskets, with the added dashing panache of ash through the middle. Perfect for those exceptional cheese boards or as easy party take homes for your customers sold whole. Raw Milk.
Havilah: Wonderful summer 2014 batches. Caramelized onion, sweet clover, grass, pineapple. Raw Milk.
Toma : We are extremely happy with the Toma batches that are coming out of our aging rooms and have gotten amazing feedback on them. Notes of peanut, cream, grass, and a wonderful lasting funk. Smooth, semi-soft, buttery texture with a lovely blush hued rind. This cheese has been the first to get completely eaten at all three of my holiday parties this year. Aged about 90 days, 7-8 lb rounds. Raw milk.
Trilby : The second batch of our newest soft ripened washed rind cheese. It is a bit higher moisture than our first batch and is ripening into a lightly viscous texture. A lot of beefy washed-rind flavors along with some olive and walnut notes and a faint hint of rye whiskey spice. Washed in Dad’s Hat Rye Whiskey. Pasteurized Milk
Lawrenceville Jack: May wheels. Grassy, mild and creamy. Raw Milk
Full Nettle Jack: Bright flavors, with citrus notes shining through from the nettles. Tastes like summer. Raw Milk
Buttercup Brie: We still have our ever popular Brie available. Lovely flavors of woodsy mushrooms and hay on batches from mid-late November. We have 2 whole wheel sizes available. Mini Brie.50-.75lb. Great size for 2-4 people to split as a dessert. And Regular Brie 1.3-1.8 lbs. Classic and bold, buttery mushroom flavors. Pasteurized Milk.
We are looking forward to another great year with all of you!
