Dairy Herd Manager Position

Cherry Grove Farm is looking for a full-time Dairy Herd Manager!

Cherry Grove Farm is a farmstead operation in Mercer Co. NJ. with over 300 acres. All of our milk goes into on-premise cheesemaking so cheesemilk production for our line of mostly raw milk cheeses is our focus.

We practice intensive rotational grazing with the dairy herd, and milk 50 at the peak of the season. We also raise pasture pork and laying hens.

All of our milk goes into on-premise cheesemaking so cheesemilk producing experience highly sought after. Minimum 3 year experience in dairy agriculture. 

Responsibilities include 5-7 milkings per week, feeding, watering, moving the animals, and various farm maintenance projects. Some farm experience, and a willingness to hard work in all kinds of weather. You must be comfortable with cows and heavy machinery, or willing to learn to be with the latter. This position presents opportunities to gain experience with various farm work, including haymaking, equipment maintenance, tree felling and chainsaw work, and holistic animal health care.

Compensation: This job is salaried.

2013 - Won 2 blue ribbons from the American Cheese Society(for Buttercup Brie and Lawrenceville Jack Reserve); Added second cheesemaker

2014 - Broke ground on additional aging space and began process of getting AWA certification for our chickens
